‘’Attitude can be defined as a relationship enduring organisation of beliefs, feelings and behavioural tendencies towards socially significant objects, groups, events or symbol’’ (Hogg and Vaughan 2005).
What are your feelings and emotions about what you do or intend to do? What will you do if you have a business idea or a good opportunity to increase your clientele? Will you behave professionally and act accordingly or will you abuse the opportunity with the wrong attitude? Do you believe in what you do and do you have adequate knowledge of what you intend to do? Do you have passion that drives you towards your goal? What are your beliefs? Spend few minutes of your time and ponder over these questions.
I believe we can communicate who we are by showing our attitude. Our attitude is part and parcel of our identity. This can be revealed through our feelings, beliefs and values (Hogg and Vaughan 2005). Having a positive attitude, I also believe will motivate you to work to achieve your goal regardless of impediments on your way whether financial or other critical resources.
Maya Angelou once said, if you don’t like something change it, if you can’t change it change your attitude. This has proved to me that attitude can be changed hence we have control over our attitude.
The choice is in our hands. I have learnt a lot from this quotation because we can be in charge of our own environment if we are able to change our attitude accordingly. Situations may not always be favorable. However, we can change our attitude to suit any adversity. Meaning during adversity, with the right attitude, we can ignore adversity or turn it around in our favor. It depends on how you look at it.
